The man who sold the world

From the perspective of a criminal, committing a crime would surely give an appreciation of seeing someone dying. That is to say if the crime being committed is killing a person. Crime has a lot of its own faces. From simple to complex kind. I read a book once that to be able to commit a suave crime, however simple or complex that is, you have to go into the mind of your victim. It's like a step by step process. That is if you are protecting yourself from harm, very ironic perhaps but that's the thing about crime. You don't just jump from out of nowhere and declare crap. Only small time swindler do that. The art of crime begins with ingenuity.

If you are not caught, the process continue to exceed beyond just ordinary swindling. The art of deceiving other people would consumed and would be very addicting. Isn't art right there? There were even some who committed crime just for the hell of hearing a gun being fired at other people. Just like in the book Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, this Mr. Harvey was very obsessed with killing little kids. He could not help himself. He had gone into the process where he consumed this obsession by killing animals instead. But that didn't last long, he wanted to hear the ripping of skin, the blood and all. So what he did was to always create a trap for his victims. Very artistic even though it was put into a wrong reason. By creating a foreplay, the anticipation of the crime become so wondrous for him.

Morality, norms and social rules grounded crime as one of the most sinful a human being could do. Like if you are a criminal, you are not fit to live a life anymore. But, that's where society totally got it all wrong. To live a thrill live is very exciting and exhilarating. Fooling people, manipulating them and all gives the feeling of edginess. In If tomorrow comes by Sidney Sheldon, the main character says that to be a con artist doesn't mean you have to harm people to get what you want from them. It takes s total ingenuity to maneuver something. There was a part there in the book where she thought there would be no way she could steal the Goya painting but with the stroke of ingenuity, she pulled it off.

If all morals be set aside for just two hours, I would sell the world and take the risk of committing a crime for the sake of art. You know what I’m saying here of course, it all boils down to the fact that morals and rules would be impossible to put aside. Only the indifferent and the absurd would come knocking to the door of unhappiness.

Let's talk about the Lourd! :)

When one would think about an artist whose works concentrate on being nationalistic, you wouldn’t normally think of this person instantly. He is not very popular. But when one mention his name, this would ring a bell. I would describe him physically as like one of your very forgettable classmates in high school who is a loser that easily fades into the background. Not very flattering right? But let’s get things straight by saying that his receding hair and oily nose would be the least of importance here. Well, you have to understand that this is just a way of prolonging things up, everything needs a seedy introduction nowadays. Ok, enough, I now present to you: Mr. Lourd Ernest De Veyra. If I get a lame reaction, I don’t care but for me he is one of the coolest Pinoy writers out there. I tell you, he is not popular but at least he does not talk crappy things when he is on television. Well, I know everyone would want to get a chance to get their faces stuck inside the television whenever possible, with Mr. Lourd however, he do it with style and he really knows what he’s talking about unlike any other snotty artists who think that common people should be obliged to kiss their feet.
If you got on reading this far without any hint who I’m talking crap about here, let me tell you what’s with Lourd De Veyra. He started, or I started knowing him when I begun listening to OPM music. He is the vocalist of Radioactive Sago Project. My impression when I first heard their songs was: “What the heck’s wrong with this man? Anong pinaglalaban nila?” Then I found out that he’s a decent man with a Degree at University of Santo Thomas. I am not trying to stereotype Pinoy bands as illerate, in fact, most of them came from a very well-off family. It just really how they want to appear on television; the idea of “rock in roll” so to speak. In his book, This is the Crazy Planet, I found out that he’s one of the rare male species who is fund of reading and of course, writing. He is a host now in one of the segment of Sapul entitled Word of the Lourd and a DJ in one of the radio program of TV5.
The content of his book, This is the Crazy Planet goes beyond what we call being nationalistic in a natural sense. He did not create fictitious impression about our loved country. His words revolved more around being satyr, ironic and sarcastic about issues in the Philippines who we normal people took with nonchalance and a shrug in the shoulder. One of the many comments of people who got on reading it was: “OO nga nuh?” “Natumbok mo!” so on and so forth. By this comments, a realization came off that we really need someone who would shake us hard from getting used to everything that is happening. It is not a normal report of “what happened on that or this” that Filipino need but a laughingstock-read deliver with style. If you would read his book, you will know what I am talking here, promise. He has this thing he used in his words, you see the world of Manny Pacquiao, Kris Aquino, back to Manny Pacquiao then to Kris Aquino again from the way he monopolizes every words. It is not just mere reading, I tell you, but you’d realized what’s with the business of being born Filipino.
