Conversations

Not so long ago, five retired (an understatement) Cavaliers of the Philippine Military Academy engaged a naive woman of 23 years old to a random, very stimulating panel conversation with questions like, “How many love letters have you wrote?, “What’s your take on BBL? Do you think it would pass into a law?”, “If this is the election time, who will you vote among those whose names are always on the news today?”, “What do you think of Bongbong Marcos and Grace Poe being siblings?” A naive grunt was her only reply, then the oldest with most “institution” status CAV among the five spoke, in his very straight wrinkled face, “No? Why? What year you were born? Martial Law was not yet on the scene when the sister of Susan Roces, Rosemarie Sonora, a famous scarlet actress during her time had fling with Marcos and Grace Poe was conceived, being a famous actress, with Marcos being President and a family man at that, they had their reputations to protect. Susan Roces and FPJ were married with no child then, it was them who took care of Grace Poe...” after a pause, “Well, yun naman ay tsismis lang.”
